エネルギー省（Department of Energy）のエネルギー効率・再生可能エネルギー局（Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy: EERE）担当デイビッド・フリードマン次官補代理（Acting Assistant Secretary, David Friedman）は7月22日、エネルギー省と米国公共電力協会（American Public Power Association: APPA）の間で、米国内の公共電力コミュニティにおける個人及び商業輸送への電力供給に関する共同努力を意図した覚書（Memorandum of Understanding: MOU）に署名したと発表した。エネルギー省とAPPAは今後、電気自動車の導入の進展や、個人車両／商業車両／人員及び商取引向け輸送のための充電インフラ配備の進展、石油燃料に代わるグリッド供給型電力の活用、を目的として協調的な取り組みを行う。
