米国ナノテクノロジー・イニシアチブ（National Nanotechnology Initiative: NNI）は、「カーボン・ナノチューブの有望性の実現：課題、機会、そして商業化への道（Realizing the Promise of Carbon Nanotubes: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Pathway to Commercialization）」と題する報告書を発表した。これは、2014年9月に航空宇宙局（National Aeronautics and Space Administration: NASA）本部で行われた技術交流会議の議事録である。会議を通じて浮かび上がってきた共通のテーマや将来的な研究開発の優先事項の可能性などが記述されている。これらの成果はNNIによる「持続可能なナノ製造：未来の産業を作る（Sustainable Nanomanufacturing: Creating the Industries of the Future）」イニシアチブの今後の方向性に情報を提供するものとなる。
