政府説明責任局（Government Accountability Office: GAO）は、「重要インフラの保護：TSAのパイプライン・セキュリティ・プログラム管理における大きな弱点に対処する行動が必要（Critical Infrastructure Protection: Actions Needed to Address Significant Weaknesses in TSA’s Pipeline Security Program Management）」と題する報告書を発表した。米国は、石油や天然ガスなどを輸送する州間パイプラインに大きく依存しているが、これらのシステムは増大的にコンピュータ化され、ハッカーやテロリストの格好の対象となりつつある。GAOは本件について、「国土安全保障省（Department of Homeland Security: DHS）輸送セキュリティ局（Transportation Security Administration: TSA）によるパイプライン・セキュリティ管理努力にはいくつかの弱点がある」とした上で、10件の勧告（TSAのガイドラインの更新についてより良いプロセスを確立するなど）を行っている。​ ​ Government Accountability Office “Critical Infrastructure Protection: Actions Needed to Address Significant Weaknesses in TSA’s Pipeline Security Program Management” (12/19/18)​
