大統領府国家科学技術会議（National Science and Technology Council: NSTC）の人工知能に関する特別委員会（Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence）は、「人工知能の研究開発に関する国家戦略計画：2019年更新版（The National Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Strategic Plan: 2019 Update）」を発表した。トランプ大統領は今年2月、「人工知能における米国のリーダーシップの維持（Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence）」と題する行政命令に署名した。これによって、米国内のAI技術及びイノベーションを推進及び保護する協調的取り組みである「米国AIイニシアチブ（American AI Initiative）」が立ち上げられた。今回発表された「AIのR&Dに関する国家戦略計画：2019年更新版」は、AIのR&Dにおける連邦投資の優先分野を定義している。 ​ The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program “The National Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Strategic Plan: 2019 Update” (6/21/19) ​
