エネルギー省（Department of Energy:）は10月1日、クリーンエネルギー、経済、国家安全保障の目標を支援する基礎研究に最大5億ドルの資金を発表した。資金は、エネルギー省の科学局（Office of Science）及びその主要プログラム（先端科学コンピューティング研究（Advanced Scientific Computing Research）、基礎エネルギー科学（Basic Energy Sciences）、生物学及び環境研究（Biological and Environmental Research）など）の優先事項を進展させる。「資金提供機会通知（Notice of Funding Opportunity: NOFO）」（非公式に「オープン・コール（Open Call）」として知られていた）は毎年度の初めに発表される。連邦規則集（Code of Federal Regulation）の更新により、2024年10月1日以降、従来の「資金提供機会（Funding Opportunity Announcements: FOAs）」は、「資金提供機会通知（Notices of Funding Opportunity: NOFO）」と呼称される。今回発表されたNOFOの件名は、「2025年度科学局経済援助プログラムの継続的公募（FY2025 Continuation of Solicitation for the Office of Science Financial Assistance Program）」。
