商務省（Department of Commerce）のペニー・プリツカー長官（Penny Pritzker）は6月11日、ハーバード・ビジネス・スクール（Harvard Business School）の戦略競争研究所（Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness）と共に、「米国クラスター・マッピングおよび登録（U.S. Cluster Mapping and Registry）」プロジェクトを開始したと発表した。同プロジェクトは戦略競争研究所を拠点として行われており、経済開発局（Economic Development Administration: EDA）の支援を受けている。同プロジェクトの狙いは、米国内のクラスターや地域の経済力を理解することで米国の競争力を強化することである。
