環境保護庁（Environmental Protection Agency: EPA）は4月10日、エネルギー・スター（Energy Star）の認定を受けたビルが最も多い上位25都市を発表した。EPAは毎年本リストを発表しており、今年で6年目となる。それによれば、今年の1位はロサンゼルス市で、次いでワシントンDC、アトランタ、ニューヨーク、サンフランシスコとなっている。発表されたデータによれば、2013年末までに2万3,000件以上のビルがEPAのエネルギー・スター認定を受けている。これらのビルは合計31億ドル以上のユーティリティ代を節約し、年間220万世帯の電力使用に相当する温室効果ガスの排出を防止したという。
