政府説明責任局（Government Accountability Office: GAO）は、「2014年年間報告：断片化、重複、複製を削減し、その他の金銭的効果を実現するための新たな機会（2014 Annual Report: Additional Opportunities to Reduce Fragmentation, Overlap, and Duplication and Achieve Other Financial Benefits）」と題する報告書を発表した。GAOは報告書の中で、連邦政府によるプログラムや活動の中で、断片化や重複、複製化されている分野を新たに11件指摘している他、コスト節約や歳入強化につながる機会を新たに15件特定している。更にGAOは、連邦政府の効率性や効果を強化するために行政府や議会が実施できる64件の行動を勧告している。
