米国発明アカデミー（National Academy of Inventors: NAI）は7月28日、米国特許商標庁（United States Patent and Trademark Office: USPTO）とイノベーション強化に向けた5カ年計画について発表した。産官学が連携し、知的財産（IP）教育や商品化推進、戦略的提携などを通じて技術の特許化から商業化、人材育成を支援する体制を構築する取り組みで、「全米イノベーション・キャンペーン（American Innovation Campaign）」、「全米発明アンバサダー・ネットワーク（National Invention Ambassadors Network）」、「イノベーション経済競争力ワークショップ（Innovation and Economic Competitiveness Workshops）」の3つの柱に基づき展開する。米国大学協会（Association of American Universities: AAU）やイノベーション促進評議会（Council for Innovation Promotion: C4IP）、米国知的財産同盟（United States Intellectual Property Alliance: USIPA）などが創設メンバーとして参画し、今後数週間で初代アンバサダーのほか、賞の新設、イノベーション同盟を発足する予定となっている。
