連邦官報（Federal Register）は6月13日、商務省（Department of Commerce）産業安全保障局（Bureau of Industry and Security: BIS）が国家安全保障と重要な技術を評価するための情報収集活動継続に伴い、調査にかかる負担軽減に関する意見を公募すると発表した。この活動は、国防総省（Department of Defense）や国土安全保障省（Department of Homeland Security: DHS）、航空宇宙局（National Aeronautics and Space Administration: NASA）などの政府機関の要請を受け、1995年ペーパーワーク削減法（Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995: PRA）に基づき、国内の重要産業セクターと技術の調査・評価を行うもので、年間30万8,000時間の負担が見込まれており、影響を受けるのは約2万8,000の企業や営利団体で、回答には8〜14時間がかかるという。同省は、この情報の必要性や負担時間の正確性、収集方法の改善点について意見を募る。期限については、8月12日までとし、提出されたものは公開記録として取り扱うとしている。
