エネルギー省（Department of Energy）のアーネスト・モニツ長官（Ernest Moniz）は6月27日、国内の石油・天然ガスの重要インフラをサイバー攻撃から守るための取り組みを強化する官民パートナーシップの立ち上げを発表した。エネルギー省が業界の専門家や国土安全保障省（Department of Homeland Security）、その他の関係機関と協力しながら、石油・天然ガスのインフラの所有者や運営者が各自のサイバーセキュリティ能力を評価し、必要な行動や投資の優先付けを行うことができるツールの開発に取り組む。この「石油・天然ガスサイバーセキュリティ能力成熟モデル（Oil and Natural Gas Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model: ONG-C2M2）」は、昨年開発されて現在は電力業界で広く利用されている「電力サブセクター・サイバーセキュリティ能力成熟モデル（Electricity Subsector Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model: ES-C2M2）」を参考にして開発される。
