大統領府は5月22日、米国政府とスウェーデン政府が、科学技術能力及び標準に関する相互の関心に基づき、今後数世代に亘り、自由と繁栄を強化するイノベーション新時代を切り開いていくことを目的として、覚書を締結したと発表した。覚書は両国の協力分野として、①信頼できる人工知能（AI）及び先端コネクティビティの開発・普及の加速、②バイオ医療研究・イノベーションの加速、③製造及び産業競争力の進展、④エネルギー・イノベーション及び対応力の促進、⑤宇宙協力の強化など、8項目を挙げている。
